Backend Engineer, Search Infrastructure

About the Role

You will design and run the search platform: image intake, vector search over a large index, results, accounts and billing. Reliability, latency and data protection are the core of the job.

What You'll Do

• Build and scale the search API and its vector index
• Design data models for enrollment, consent and removal requests
• Own observability, rate limiting and abuse controls
• Ship the unlock, payments and account flows with the product team

What You Bring

• 5+ years building backend systems in production
• Strong Python or Go, and solid SQL
• Experience with high-throughput APIs and caching
• Care for security and handling sensitive data

Nice to Have

• Experience with approximate nearest neighbor search
• Experience running GPU inference services
